Sarah Baumgarten - Voice

Sarah Baumgarten is an operatic and musical theatre performer. Earning her B.M. in Voice Performance from Penn State University and M.M. in Voice Performance and Pedagogy and teaching certification from the Peabody Institute, she now freelances and teaches voice and piano in the South Jersey and Philadelphia areas.
Sarah has performed at venues such as The Kimmel Center, Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, Dixon Place, Casa Verdi and the Civica Scuola di Musica (Milan), the Library of Congress, The Jewish Museum of Maryland, World Café Live, Andrea Clearfield’s Salon, The West End Lounge in New York City, as well as several churches, synagogues and retirement communities in South Jersey and Baltimore. She has been featured with Concert Artists of Baltimore, Annapolis Opera, OperaWorks, The International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, the Vancouver Summer Opera Workshop, The Thomas Jefferson University Choir, The Philadelphia Symphonic Choir, The New Voices Cabaret, TableTop Broadway, Opera on Tap, Minas, Garden State Opera and Delaware Valley Opera Company in addition to Penn State Opera and Peabody Opera Theatre. Favorite roles include Cinderella (A Tale of Cinderella); Noemie (Cendrillon); Lucy (The Telephone); Musetta (La Bohéme), and Anne Page (The Merry Wives of Windsor) with Delaware Valley Opera Company as well as Annunziata in the world premieres of La Giara, a New Musical with Minas, and Rebecca Kaplan in The Yellow Star with Garden State Opera. In competition she has been a Semi-Finalist in the Lyra New York, Mary Trueman Art Song and Classical Singer and NATS Eastern Regional vocal competitions.
As a concert performer Sarah has presented her solo lecture concerts, The Jewish Tradition on Broadway and Jews to my Ears to many appreciative audiences in both the Philadelphia and Baltimore areas. Upcoming engagements include her debut with Wilmington Concert Opera in their “Peace and Reconciliation” Concert, and Monica (The Medium) with Touch of Classics Entertainment.
Having grown up in South Jersey, Sarah participated in All South Jersey and All State Choruses as well as competed in NATS competitions. She also took part in Cherry Hill’s Summer Theatre programs and has been studying voice for over 15 years. In addition to performing, Sarah is a highly sought-after teacher and music director. She has experience teaching general music and chorus at both the Elementary and Middle School levels. She currently music directs the chancel choir for St. Andrew’s UMC in Cherry Hill, NJ and has music directed several shows including Cabaret, Little Shop of Horrors at Penn State University as well as Urinetown the musical and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown at the Ritz Theatre Company.
